Season 6 Week 25

What’s that over there…. 👀👀👀

Not sure about you, but Halloween is an all-time fave time of the year for us at the Open Street. Astoria just goes all-out: the front-yard decorations! the foliage! the sheer amount of events and parties! the Spirit Halloween pop-up on Steinway! We can go on!

And, of course, we love joining in on the tradition. This year, we have lots planned for both the weekend before Halloween (Saturday, 10/25 + Sunday, 10/26) and the day of. Because for the fourth year—and counting!—we’re joining the city’s ‘Trick or Streets’ initiative: a special one-day activation of the Open Street to make room for all of the festivities.

So mark your calendars: from 3pm to 6pm on Friday, 10/31, the street will be very spoooooky. Lots of fun TBA.

Now, let’s talk TGIF:

If you want to help, but can’t make it to the street in person, there are lots of other tasks and projects we’re working on throughout the week. Fill out our Volunteer Interest Form to share what you like to do and we’ll reach out if we have something!

Support the Open Street

It takes a lot to run the 31st Ave Open Street, such as renting storage space, paying for insurance, or buying supplies like extra chairs, sidewalk chalk, and trash bags to keep our street clean.

We list a few of the materials that we are in frequent need of on our donation page. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we also take tax-deductible donations via our Givebutter campaign for those who would like to contribute financially.

Every bit helps and we appreciate your support in making 31st Ave a better place for all! Thank you!
