Season 7 - Week 17

And just like that…

We’ve delivered another public art project to the street!

Local vintage fave Loveday 31 recently approached us with an idea: to paint the tree bench outside their storefront, which we installed with Astoria Woodworkers Collective a few years back. So we partnered with well-known artist and neighbor Caryn Cast, helping to fund the supplies and labor with Loveday to make it happen. The design features accessories you can snag there :)

Public art is just one of the many ways we can collaborate with local business partners to beautify the block. So if you’ve got an idea, let us know! We’re all ears.

Now, onto le news:

The Clips

  • We love the idea of Citi Bike rides costing the same as subway fares. (ABC)

  • Some semblance of Innovation QNS looks set to move forward further down Steinway. (QNS)

  • Outdoor dining is back all year round, baby :) (Streetsblog)

Support the Open Street

It takes a lot to run the 31st Ave Open Street, such as renting storage space, paying for insurance, or buying supplies like extra chairs, sidewalk chalk, and trash bags to keep our street clean.

We list a few of the materials that we are in frequent need of on our donation page. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, we also take tax-deductible donations via our Givebutter campaign for those who would like to contribute financially.

Every bit helps and we appreciate your support in making 31st Ave a better place for all! Thank you!
